Everybody would like to get a massage but not everybody is comfortable giving them to someone else. Most people are ordinarily scared of hurting someone else. The dread of not helping enough is a big one. We get apprehensive that others won't like what we are trying to do. Thankfully, it is definitely possible to learn how to give a great massage each time you want to do so. Here's how you too can give anybody an amazing back massage.

To start off, see to it that the person is comfortable while lying down. The surface on which they are on must be firm but soft. If you don't don't have a massage table, you might try them on the bed. If they are lying on the floor, spread a few soft blankets, towels or a mat so that the person will feel relaxed. If the person chooses to keep his or her shirt on, be sure that it is of a soft material so there will be less friction and scratching.

Start with a few standard rubbing. Use the full flat side of both hands to rub from the lower back area toward the neck (do this slowly). Put a little pressure into this but do not use full massage pressure yet. Start out at the base of the back and then move your hands upward, along both sides of the backbone toward the neck then move across the shoulders and work your way back down the back. As you do this, make every "loop" of the back smaller so that you can be certain to get to all areas of the back.

You can provide good and direct pressure when you use the heels of your hands. Work the heels of your palms in tiny circles starting out in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides and then upwards and back in until you've rubbed all reas of the back.

Try to sit on one side of the individual who is on the receiving end of your massage. Next, put one hand on top of the other and push into the back using only your fingers. start out with the spine and push steadily away from the spine, across your back and then very lightly rub your hands back toward the spinal column. Do this step again as you move upward along the individual's back and then do it again on the other side of the person's back.

Knead the spine. Start at the base of the person's spine and then work up all of the sausage like muscles on each side of the spinal column with two of your fingers or your thumbs. Generate a little friction in each node by massaging each one at least five times. Massage your way all the way up one side of the spine and then repeat the process on the other side of the spine.

Something that you should keep in mind as you use these massage techniques is that it is best to re-relax the person between each part of the massage that you give. This means that after you're done with one technique, do the basic rub that you used at the beginning of the massage for several minutes.
