Mumbai, August 05, 2013: Welspun Energy Ltd. (WEL), one of India’s leading renewable energy generatorshas been awarded the ‘BEST SOLAR POWER PRODUCER’ award by IPPAI at its 14^th Regulators & Policymakers Retreat. The award recognizes the company’s outstanding contribution towards Clean Energy through its various solar projects across the country. The award ceremony was held at the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, Miramar on 3rd, August, 2013.

The award invited applicants from across the power industry including State Electricity Regulatory Commissions operating in any or multiple segments, state boards who have significantly contributed to the development of the power sector in India.

The IPPAI are focused on policy, strategic, financial, legal, regulatory, and technical issues in the power, oil and gas, and allied sectors. IPPAI is working towards 24x7 power supply for India, through understanding of issues on Distributed Power Generation, selling Surplus Power from Captives and Renewable Energy.

Welspun Energy’s 55 (DC) MW Rajasthan solar project is India’s largest solar project to date and has the distinction of being the fastest executed solar projects of this scale. Within three days of commissioning, the 15 MW out of 55 (DC) MW generated a high DC PLF % of 22.6% in the stabilization period. Welspun won one of the world’s largest solar power project of 151 (DC) MW in the state of Madhya Pradesh and plans to commission it well within 2013. The 5.5 MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh, also generated a high PLF % of 22.3%. Presently over 250 MW of power projects are being developed through partnerships with leading solar module and equipment manufacturers in order to enable efficiency at the highest level. The organization aims to develop a total of 550 MW solar capacities in the state of Karnataka alone and an additional 100 MW in Andhra Pradesh.
