Most people love to live in a place with beautifully maintained gardens. Even if the garden has no vegetables, most of us will be comfortable with just having lovely flowers around us. So if you want to transform your landscape perhaps you should consider having seasonal bedding. This is a garden that will consist of alpine plants and other flora species that will be there for just a season or two.

Then they will disappear totally until you wish to plant them again in the next season. Bedding can be prepared using different sorts of plants. They can be perennials, annuals, bi-annuals or alpine plants. The selected types will be determined by the sort of weather conditions that your area has at the time of making new bedding. Will the climate favour the sorts of plants you want to put in your garden in a particular season?

If you think that the sorts of plants you want are right for the seasonal bedding preparation, follow the instructions on sowing, watering, fertilizing, and pest and weed control. Any plant, even those requiring minimal care, will demand attention from you. So you should not buy alpine plants because they are considered hardy and resilient even when there is frost. Some alpines are so beautiful but they are so hard to protect and nurture, unfortunately.

Therefore you should not consider them easy plants that you can grow relaxingly. There are some alpine floras that adapt very well to the driest and most exposed part of the garden, no doubt. However, they will need you to provide water, mulching and other needs particularly if they are prone to some bugs. But since these plants grow in the wild, they are not going to demand a lot of attention as vegetables like tomatoes, spinach, carrots or onions will do.

In any case you will be a bit relaxed after watering the plants particularly when they are so tiny and fighting to live. If you are not in favour of alpines, then you may be best planting perennials particularly the herbaceous perennials as they are succulent, juicy and drought resistant. It is a good thing that these types of perennial plants are not as rare as some alpines are and this means that they can be found easily on the internet. For rarest alpines, you may have to consult nurseries that sell plants in bulk.

This is because the local nurseries or small-scale gardeners may not have some of the most beautiful alpines that are also difficult to grow unless you have the time and guts to do it. But since gardening is a science and an art at the same time, there is some degree of amusement and satisfaction derived from just farming a plant that others fear to grow. If you are ready for the experiment, consult a large nursery in your locality or an internet-based one that would barely lack an alpine that is scarcely found. Alpine plants are so many though and there is no need to just focus on those that could challenge your skills and knowledge. Try a few others that are easily nurtured as they adapt to most harsh climates.

It is so unfortunate that even the most sophisticated gardener could lack some beautiful plants to grow.
