If you're like the majority of people out there, no doubt you've tried a few different diets to different degrees of success. You most likely lost a little bit of weight, got to a certain point and then, regardless of what you tried, couldn't lose any more. This plateau that the majority of people hit, is common with almost all diet plans. There exists a new way of avoiding this plateau by working to fool your metabolism.

You probably have already arrived at the plateau at least once--in fact, it has probably caused a frustrating end to more than one diet program. The plateau is a strange occurrence and it happens to even the best dieters when they reach the third or fourth week of their diet plans. Up until that point weight is coming off and then it simply quits, and nothing works to keep the body losing weight. This is the way your body does respond to all of the changes you have been forcing upon it. Your body switches into protection mode to stop hunger, so it slows your rate of metabolism. What this does, then, is prevent your body from dropping any more pounds.

This is what causes people to believe they aren't capable of losing the weight they want, and they give up trying. This is where a lot of people get back to eating and start getting back their weight usually more than they lost initially. The way to prevent this is by using a diet where you move calories. What you want to do is eat a different number of calories every single day, which purportedly helps you deceive your metabolism. When this works, it keeps your body from flicking the switch and entering protective mode. This will keep your body's metabolism churning at its present rate as opposed to slowing down and you'll continue shedding pounds. When you get to this point, you'll have passed your plateau and your diet will continue working the way it was made to work.

It's pretty simple to apply this kind of plan for your daily routine. One of the more well-known methods of caloric cycling is the 14 day method. In this plan, you follow your diet for eleven days and then on the 12, 13 and 14th days you try to eat the things you actually would like to eat. Rotate your food throughout each day to fool your metabolism and then eat whatever you want to keep yourself from getting to the plateau. This keeps you from becoming frustrated at a stringent regimen with your eating. You could continue doing these 14 days over and over until you are content with your weight loss.

The 2 day plan is one other way, where you eat regularly for one day, and the other day you trim your calories by 20% to 35%. You do this every 2 days for as long as it takes you to achieve your weight loss goals. This program is wonderful for helping you get past your plateau and lose the weight you want to lose so you should try it out.
