Aged care at home may not be a term that you are familiar with. The concept of home aged care was developed so that elderly people could remain living in the homes they love for longer before moving into a nursing home.  It is also referred to as ageing in place. Aged care at home provides the elderly with more independence and freedom of choice as they age.

Home aged care is provided when the family of the elderly client hires someone to come to the home of their loved with and help them with the activities they need to do each day. The level of care can vary depending on the needs of senor and it may grow over time.

Home aged care givers can assist the elderly person with taking their baths, and getting dressed. They can also help them to get their beds made, and ensure the home is tidy. These care providers can prepare a meal for the person to make certain they get good nutritious food each day. They can also dress wounds, administer medications and other tasks that a nurse would do in a live in aged care center.

Health care professionals who help in the home become more than just hired professionals they become like friends. They often spend time sitting and being companions to your loved one, and they keep the people from feeling lonely and forgotten.

Old age makes it difficult for us to perform the actions we once performed with ease. We get slower in our movements and we often become unsteady on our feet. When we start to stumble while walking we take a chance of falling and being severely injured. Aged care at home lets the families of these elderly people feel secure in the knowledge that their loved one is being protected, cared for, and monitored.

This type of care gives people a chance to live on their own terms for much longer periods of time. The people that do receive these services are often healthier for a longer period of time because they are less depressed, they eat better nutritional meals, ake their medications like they are prescribed and they feel better about themselves and their lives.

It is important that we allow the older population to feel useful, vibrant, appreciated, loved, and protected. They have given us all so much and now it is time we give them something in return; dignity.

Home aged care provides family with security when their elderly members want to remain living at home alone. Aged care at home is a way that the older generation can retain their independence without putting their health in jeopardy.
