THE TV INDUSTRY IS NO LONGER DEFINED BY THE BODY TYPE: NEHALAXMIIYER

 

At a time when popular TV actresses are busy flaunting their curves and that perfect bikini clad avatar, actress Nehalaxmi Iyer comes as an image breaker. She was offered to play the lead role in STAR Plus’ latest launch Ishqbaaaz, provided she gains back all the weight she had lost during a break.

 

While the industry today is particularly on the prowl for girls who have the perfect body and the jawlines etc,Nehalaxmi Iyer feels that it is indeed her body type that got her the role of Saumya in the STAR Plus show.

 

Talking about the same Nehalaxmi said, “It is a myth that just because you don’t have the thin curves, you won’t survive in this industry. Well, I definitely think so. Every second day there are so many new girls struggling to be in the TV industry who starve themselves out of their wits to ensure they’re thin enough to get roles, but I feel that is not required. As for me, I am really lucky to have gotten good work, especially Ishqbaaaz, that to because my producers have loved me the way I am and told me to gain or lose any weight.”

 

Neha also confesses to be highly inspired by comedian Bharti Singh. She says, “Look at how much fame Bharti Singh has gotten over the years. Audiences love watching her and she is a household name despite the body type. I definitely feel that the TV industry is not defined by the body type.”

 

Neha will be seen paired opposite Leenesh Mattoo in Ishqbaaaz.
