Visit Highlights the Growing Importance of the State for International Investors

 

Patna: The Right Honourable Danny Alexander, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury (British Cabinet Minister - Finance) and Sir James Bevan,theBritish High Commissioner to India, visited the Molson Coors Cobra Brewery in Bihta, on the outskirts of the State Capital accompanied by senior members of the company management and state government officials.

 

The visit highlights Bihar’s growing importance in the eyes of international investors. Molson Coors Cobra is the first multinational company to have set up a manufacturing facility in Bihar and its success in the State has made it a role model for others. The company has so far earmarked an investment of USD 40 million (Rs. 250 Crore Approx) in the country, out of which the largest share has been invested in Bihar.

 

The dignitaries were taken on a tour of the brewery which manufactures the company’s popular Iceberg 9000 and King Cobra brands. Molson Coors Cobra has upgraded the brewery in Bihta into a state of the art complex that sets the highest standards in quality and environment control. It uses environment friendly Rice Husk Biomass fuel for the boiler, thereby cutting down its consumption of fossil fuel and reducing carbon di-oxide emissions by more than 4500 tCO2e per year.

 

Molson Coors Cobra has had a long connection with the United Kingdom. The company’s Founder and Chairman, Lord Karan Bilimoria is also the Founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council which aims to foster trade and business relations between the two nations. Molson Coors Cobra India is a joint venture between Lord Bilimoria’s Cobra Beer (a household name in the UK and one of the fastest growing beer brands in the UK over the past two decades) and Molson Coors, one of the world’s largest brewers. The British High Commission and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) have long supported Molson Coors Cobra since its inception in India.
