Family owned and operated, industry-leading Chicago area stamp dealer Rasdale Stamp Company has published to its website the full list of prices realized at its most recent public stamp auction. The auction was held, following a period of pre-auction bidding, on Saturday and Sunday, May 20th and 21st, at Rasdale’s location in Westmont, Illinois.

Individual lots at Rasdale Stamp Company’s recent auction consisted of single stamps up to entire collections. The lot that realized the highest price in late May’s auction reached a final selling price of $11,000. Listed as Lot #115, Rasdale describes the top-selling lot as “an impressive old time mint and used 19th and 20th century front of the book, B.B. and Hawaii accumulation in seven stock books.”

Rasdale also describes, as they do for many auction lots, how the collection in Lot #115 was accumulated. “Put together decades ago when collectors could find big stashes of material and spend countless hours identifying and sorting into binders and stock pages. The group includes singles and plate blocks.”

Before it was sold for $11,000, Rasdale estimated the value of the entire catalog to be over $45,000. Images of the aforementioned collection, and all the other lots that were sold, are also available on Rasdale’s website. Images of Lot #115 show that its stamps were printed on a variety of different-colored backgrounds and often depict world historical figures, including U.S. Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Lots were sold at the recent auction at a wide range of price points. Beyond the top-selling lot, over a hundred lots at Rasdale’s recent auction sold for over $1,000. Many more of the auction’s fifteen hundred-plus lots sold for less than $50.00. Rasdale’s next public auction is slated to take place the weekend of August 19th and 20th.
