“Rahile Door Gav Maze” – unfolding the stories of drought affected families only on IBN-Lokmat’s Reportaaz

It was the year 1972 when Maharashtra and different pockets of other states was badly hit and millions of people got affected by drought. That year is still remembered as “year of the drought”. Some years have passed by, but the year 1972, still haunts millions of people even today. Varying the intensity of that event Maharashtra was among the badly affected state, there are many different stories of the families which migrated to different locations and even state, in search of better livelihood. This week, Reportaaz will showcase untold stories of many such affected families - “Rahile Door Gav Maze” on Sunday, 24^th February 2013 at 11.30 am and 8.30 pm only on IBN-Lokmat.

Maharashtra drought was in limelight for its extreme severity, many families who were dalits, landless and poor people were forced to migrate to Marathvada and to the other cities like Mumbai in search of better livelihood. It not only affected lower middle class people but many of the landlords also came onto the roads with their families, people who were not dependent on agriculture was the less affected ones by this natural calamity. Today, many of these families earn their bread and butter by working as construction workers, truck drivers and cleaners. Since the past four decades, they are still struggling and striving for a better life.

Various agencies have come to rescue and tackle with such calamities time and again by bringing in different schemes.
