(Free Press Release) St.Albans, Hertfordshire: Planning permission has been granted for an apartment building designed by Brunskill Design Architects in a Conservation Area in the city centre.

The design includes a sensitive refurbishment of a disused electricity substation with sympathetic building extension. The original building is locally listed and is sited on a corner within the Conservation area.

The triangular site is mostly surrounded by a high brick wall, which led to the design incorporating various roof lights for natural light to reach the occupants.

Designed externally to be in keeping with the streetscape, it maximises space and light to the internal areas. Original brick and steel features of the original building will be kept and refurbished.

It was important not to detract from the character of the original building when creating the design. Discussions between Brunskill Design Architects and the local authority resulted in planning permission being granted.
