A happy childhood leads to a good future but if one has suffered and seen relationships break, it definitely leads to lack of trust in humanity. This time, Emotional Atyachaar narrates a heart-wrenching story of a young girl who battled her childhood amidst the quarrels and separation of her parents. Mariam, a 19 year old, very reserved by nature, sheds some light on the consequences of atyachaar her father inflicted on her mother and how this affected and left an ever lasting impact on her and her younger sister.
Even though Mariam’s parents were in a love marriage, her father abandoned them to face turmoil for several years. The haunting incidents of her childhood were still very fresh in her mind as she recollected the time her father would abuse and assault her mother after getting drunk. She also witnessed many episodes of her father threatening her mother of leaving the house; little did she know that it would happen in reality. Mariam detested him from that time and soon realised he was never coming back. She became mature before time and realised her responsibilities towards her family now. Life had changed for her and all three of them started coping with it. But five years down the line, just when they had started afresh, her father returned. Mariam was taken aback and she had mixed feelings about his return, but she managed to convince her mother to accept him back in their life.
Slowly, life was coming back on track but Mariam’s dad had to go back and forth between Mumbai and Pune for his new job. This time around, Mariam came across a scarf in his bag with a woman’s name embroidered on it and so, she decided to investigate. A curious Mariam immediately decided to go to Pune and find out if something was fishy only to discover a shocking reality about her father. All these incidents together have left a lasting impact on her personality, her trust in relationships is now broken but she has learnt a lot from all the experiences in life.
