A new number 1 app for this week has come about by developer CamMax named ‘Hi Guess The Food’.

The brain teaser and puzzle app jumped to the top spot of the iPad chart in the UK this week from nowhere with a top 4 star rating. Its twin on the GooglePlaystore has had over 10,000 downloads, an indicator of how many the iPad version may have also got.

The aim of the game is to see how many food brands you can recognize. You must guess the name of the food using the cartoon image and mixed letters given to you. You are also able to see how many letters the word contains.

There are 10 food brands to guess in each level. The current level count stands at 16, however the developer has stated there will be more updates to come.

Having risen from almost nowhere to the top spot, the longevity of this app is yet to be seen or known, and with many users complaining that it is to difficult as you need good knowledge of the brands, this may end up being just another one app wonder.

One reviewer of the app, Chrissiemac74 wrote in her review in the App Store:

“This is not just English foods so if you don’t know World Brands then its hard. I’ve deleted it already”

While others have reviewed it as “Really good”.

Time will show whether this app, like its similar predecessors Logos Quiz and 4Pics1Word, will last.

With the popularity of the app soaring and the difficulty level so tough, this of course sees more sites with answers and cheats for the app also increase. There are already many sites you can visit for the Guess The Food answers and this takes away the need for paying to use the hints and cheats within the app. These in-app purchases (to skip 1 puzzle costs $1.99, and removing or showing a letter will also set you back around the $1 mark), are what monetize the app for the developer, if these are not being used and the developer is not making enough money from the app, it is then unlikely they will update or carry on marketing the app, therefore killing it’s longevity that way.

Hi Guess The Food app beat the 2nd and 3rd place apps this week which are, in second place, Candy Blast Mania by developer Team Lava and third place, The Impossible Line by Chillingo Ltd.

All these apps are available to be downloaded for iOS devices from the Apple app Store
