Mixed Drinks Continue to Rule the roost in the Alcohol World

When the same was tried with drinks, amazing results were found as well. Mixed drinks are prepared by adding two or more drinks along with a few other ingredients. They can be either alcoholic or non-alcoholic. But the alcoholic ones, more commonly known as cocktails are extremely popular. There are a number of methods of preparing mixed drinks. As already mentioned, it is not necessary for these drinks to be alcoholic. They can be prepared with or without the use of alcohol. The scope of discussion here, however, shall be limited to alcoholic drinks.

People who haven’t tried these drinks are often curious or wary about the ingredients that are mixed with alcohol in the preparation. Many others fear drug abuse and keep away. However, these are mere rumors that are not based on factual evidences. There is no reason to worry if one orders a cocktail at a registered bar. Only those who refuse to be responsible for the outcomes are to be avoided.

Generally, nothing hazardous is mixed in the drinks. Apart from spirits, there might be ingredients like fruit juices, spices, cream, milk and flavoring agents and permitted colors, all of which are tested before use. For some preparations, honey is also used. 

Martini

Mixed drinks were first made using basic spirits like rum, whiskey or may be a little vodka. These were mixed with gin to form what is popularly known as the martini. It is also called gimlet in some parts of the world. The martini is still very popular in most places on the planet. There are many forms of the drink today and all of them are equally popular.  

Essentially, the martini is prepared by mixing gin with dry vermouth. Though these two basic ingredients still remain constant, a whole lot of ingredients have been added. These external ingredients vary in different parts of the world. Put precisely, there are not less than a few hundred recipes of the drink in the present world.

 

The drink was named after Martinez, a small town in California where it was prepared for the first time by a French bartender. Though this happened about one and a half century ago, the town of Martinez still exists. Martini was also a brand of shotgun style rifles that was known for power shots.

Having suffered a little loss of popularity in the 1980’s and most parts of the 1990’s, different brands of Martinis have been doing great business ever since; with some becoming as popular in stature as brands like Gimlet. A plethora of new concoctions of the drink has evolved and bartenders that have been able to dish out some unique concoctions have ridden high on money for several years.
