Father Francis D'Britto began his sacred journey as a priest in 1972. His work is not limited to religious issues only; he has made his mark in fields like social justice and literature. Till date he has translated 73 books based on Bible in Marathi. Over 3, 00,000 Marathi-speaking Catholics have benefited from them. Father Francis D’Britto has mission of sharing the knowledge from Bible to maximum number of people. To fulfill this mission he translated Bible in Marathi so that Marathi Catholics too can read it. The ‘Subodh Bible’ by Fr. D’Britto, is more than just a translation. He has simplified the Old Testament into and divided it into 11 chapters.

The language used in older version was too tough for a lay man to understand hence there was dire need of having a simple version that is readable for a common man. More than 2,000 copies of the book were sold in less than three weeks. Fr Francis D'Britto, who is a rational social activist to the core is also a driving force behind NGO Harit Vasai which helps in protecting rights of local land holders and protecting them from the builder mafia.
