Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the 4th day of the bright half of Bhadrapad. This festival marks the birthday of Lord Ganesh. As a build up to this religious occasion, there are a series of stories lined up for the preparation of the Ganeshotsav. Eco-friendly Ganpati‘s is the norm these days, with various mandals and families opting to go this way. This build-up show will provide an insight into this new initiative. In a special episode of Anolkhi Ganpati, mythological and unknown stories of this lord will be showcased. The Mudgala Purana gives eight Inner Avatars of Ganapati. These avatars can be understood to symbolize abstract qualities which triumph over similar personifications of evil and weakness. The Vakratunda, Ekadanta, Mahodara, Gajanana, Lambhodara, Vighneshwara, Vignaraja, Dhumravarna - all these demons are famously known in Hindu thought as the Inner Enemies, and represent the qualities that one needs to get rid of, as one grows in the life spiritual. They are in a real sense obstacles, and Ganapati is the best qualified to remove obstacles from any life

 

On 5th, 6th and 7th day of this festival, It is believed that Gauri, Ganesha's sister come home to visit her brother. This woman centric occasion in Marathi houses is celebrated by inviting married daughters to their parents place, cooking food for Gauri which is a very elaborate menu, etc. All over Maharashtra this celebration touches the women's heart.
