The Indian Railway network was first introduced in India by the British as part of their plan for cheaper transportation of their goods internally. Since then Railways have become an integral form of transportation in India. Its operations cover twenty eight states and seven union territories along with limited international services to NepalBangladesh and Pakistan. Our railway system has not witnessed any significant changes in terms of better technology, cleaner stations &trains and better safety. Since many years the railway ministry has been headed by strong political leaders but the impact of their policies and ideas is not visible. There are some serious issues that need to be addressed by the railway ministry. The Indian railways also need introduction of new technology, better safety for passengers especially women, new trains and better hygiene standards.
