Environmental studies look beyond the obvious human impact on our delicate global ecosystem. The one-year, 24-credit LL.M. (Master of Law) program in Environmental Sustainability at St. Thomas University Miami Law School provides students with the legal knowledge they need to become experts in environmental law and gives them the practical legal tools needed for careers with economic enterprises seeking sustainable solutions, government agencies charged with monitoring performance and advocacy organizations driving change. Through this program, students can learn about such topics as: energy law and policy, which introduces them to the legal, regulatory and environmental concepts relevant to the changing energy industries in the United States; international environmental law, which explores international approaches to environmental problems faced by the entire planet, such as global warming and ozone layer depletion; and natural resource preservation. A student coming to St. Thomas University to obtain a Master’s degree in Environmental Sustainability also has the opportunity to take law school courses.
