In India a sport like shooting, which is traditionally considered the game of men has recently seen many women participating. Names like Anjali Bhagwat, Suma Shirur, Tejaswini Sawant, Anisa Sayyed, and Rahi Sarnobat are few world-class shooters from India who have made their presence felt in National and International sports circuit. Maharashtra has a pool of talent and it is evident as all these ace players belong to the state. This week Vinayak Gaikwad reports the success story of world champion women shooters from Maharashtra on Sunday, 5th May 2013 at 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. only on IBN-Lokmat.

All these women belong to a very ordinary family yet they dreamt of chasing their dreams. Anjali Bhagwat received the most prestigious awards by the Government of India for excellence in sports — Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in the year 2002. She is the first woman in shooting sport, who has become an inspiration for many youngsters.  Many followed her path and have considered shooting as a serious profession. Anisa Sayyed and Rahi Sarnobat successfully bagged Gold Medal for India in Common Wealth Games. Suma Shirur holds a world record to her credit. Tejaswini Sawant was the first Indian Shooter to win the gold medal at the World Championships.

All these eminent players have one thing in common and that is their “passion for sports”. Their story speaks about their hard work, learning from failure, dedication and most important “dream of Championship”. Vinayak Gaikwad explores the struggle of these women champions, tune into Reportaaz on Sunday, 5th May 2013 at 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. only on IBN-Lokmat.
