Institute to offer five-day diamond course in Kolkata

GIA (Gemological Institute of America), a nonprofit institute considered the world leader in gem and jewellery education, is conducting a practical five-day programme on diamonds right here in Kolkatastarting September 15th, 2014.GIA student Manoj Kulthia of N.D. Students in GIA’s Diamond Grading Lab Classwork with real diamonds and professional gemmological tools to uncover the fascinating world inside these gems. The class teaches both technical and practical ways to observe and evaluate diamond quality, and the basics of the famous 4Cs (colour, cut, clarity and carat weight), an evaluation system created by GIA. Students also learn how the 4Cs can affect value and about the ways in which diamond treatments can affect the appearance of a stone.
