Orlando, FL— March 10, 2015 — Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive disease that makes it hard for sufferers to breathe. Progressive pertains to the disease getting worse over time. Sufferers often experience coughing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, wheezing, and other symptoms. The good news is that a natural remedy is believed to be helpful for fighting the condition.

Fish oil is potentially helpful for reducing the risk of COPD among smokers. Cigarette smoking is considered to be the leading cause of COPD. Those who smoke or used to smoke are more susceptible to the condition. There are other factors that contribute to the development of the condition such as long-term exposure to chemical fumes, air pollution, dust, and other lung irritants.

“Fish oil’s omega-3 fatty acids are believed to be responsible for its therapeutic benefits. Omega-3s are healthy fats, and they are generally beneficial for overall human health,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.

In a new study conducted in Japan, it was found that consumption of omega-3-rich food such as herring, salmon, flaxseed oil, and walnuts are very helpful for the treatment of COPD. Unfortunately, omega-3 fats are scarce in the typical diet of Americans. Omega-3s are also believed to be helpful for fighting conditions such as depression, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Research reveals that COPD is the no. 5 cause of death worldwide, and the number of sufferers is expected to increase in the coming years. Examples of COPD are Emphysema and chronic bronchitis. In the two-year Japanese study, it was found that omega-3-rich diets are significantly helpful for curbing COPD.

Wataru Matsuyama, M.D., PHD, from the medicine division of Kagoshima University Hospital in Japan, conducted a study that involved 64 individuals with COPD. All of them had not smoked for a minimum of six months and had not experienced COPD’s bad flare-ups. None of them took nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or antibiotics. They were divided into two groups, one with an omega-3-rich diet, and the other with less omega-3s.

It was found that the group with the omega-3-rich diet experienced a significant reduction in lung inflammation. They were also the ones that walked the farthest in the walking test that lasted for six minutes. According to researchers, diets that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids are a potentially safe and practical method in the treatment of COPD. Individuals who are not fond of eating fish may take fish oil supplements to obtain omega-3 fatty acids (http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Fish-Oil-Supplement-Softgels/dp/B00O8NS20K).
