Portsmouth, NH - Dr. Brannon Claytor, board certified plastic surgeon at Atlantic Plastic surgery Center, has been invited to serve on the Product Development Committee for the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. The committee, including Dr. Claytor, recently convened at the annual meeting of ASAPS in April in New York City.

One of the projects focused on by the Product Development Committee was “The Smart Beauty Guide” which will launch an all new interactive website in September, 2013. The “Smart Beauty Guide” website will serve as a reliable and professional resource for cosmetic surgery and aesthetic non-invasive procedures. Current and accurate description of plastic surgical procedures and guidance as to who is a good candidate for specific surgeries will be provided and approved by this group of board certified plastic surgeons. The goal is to help potential patients make informed, intelligent choices about cosmetic procedures and connect the website visitor with qualified local plastic surgeons.

The product development committee has chosen “Knowledge is a beautiful thing” and “The power to make smart decisions for more beautiful and natural looking results.” as their key phrases to convey the purpose and approach of the website. The website will seek to assist both men and women in acquiring accurate information prior to entering the decision making process of personal enhancement. Extensive information will be presented on all surgical procedures: breast augmentation with both saline and silicone, breast reduction, breast lift, gynecomastia (breast reduction for men), abdominoplasty, liposuction of the abdomen, buttocks and thighs, arms, facelift, eyelid lift and more. The website also features a “for men only” area, a cosmetic procedure planning toolkit and advice on how to pick the best plastic surgeon for yourself.

Non-invasive procedures featured on the Smart Beauty Guide website will include Botox, Dysport and other wrinkle reducers, facial fillers and laser procedures for facial enhancement such as Fraxel, Intense Pulsed light and Coolsculpting. Currently, many sites exist that are inaccurate, over-promising and direct the patient toward those who may not be board certified in plastic surgery, not board certified in any relevant discipline or who may not even be medically trained.
