New Delhi, June 30, 2014:Discovery Channel has announced the launch of an all new series Naked Castaway, strengthening its survival genre.The series features the world-renowned survivalist and adventurer EdStaffordand presentshim tackling the challenges of any environment, with nothing except his camera. He finds everything he needs to not just survive, but thrive in some of the world’s toughest environments.

Former British Army Captain, Ed Stafford was the first person ever to walk the length of the Amazon, but surviving completely alone on a desert island is his biggest adventure yet. Can he last 60 days on an uninhabited Fijian island with absolutely nothing? He'll be washed up naked and alone on a desert island, south east of Fiji, with only his brain, bare hands, and a camera to keep him alive. He'll take no food, water, clothes, knife or tools, so from the moment he arrives he is on an extraordinary race to stay alive. In fierce tropical heat he has only hours to find water before dehydration ends his attempt before it’s started. He must master the island — and his fears - to find food and water, light fire, build a proper shelter and progress from mere survival to the point where he could live there forever. As man can only last three days without water and three weeks without food, Ed will attempt to survive on the island physically and mentally, for 60 days.

Ed will have to use what the uninhabited island has to offer, and his common sense, to find food, water, clothes, shelter and anything else which will keep him alive while he is marooned. Surrounded by beautiful tropical reefs Ed will also have to find a way to fish for food, while making sure he doesn't meet any of the deadly sharks which inhabit the seas around the island. Will he also be able cope with the sweltering 30 °C temperatures, with no shelter or sun cream and then the freezing temperatures at night with no cover?

Highlights from the episodes:
- Explorer Ed Stafford struggles to establish himself on a remote uninhabited Fijian island. Arriving with nothing, he has to quickly establish his priorities of water, shelter, food and fire to have any chance of surviving his 60-day challenge. Living mainly on coconuts, Ed frantically searches the island for a reliable water source and for food, eating anything that comes his way - including a raw gecko. As his only water source dries up, Ed suffers from dehydration before the rain comes and gives him the boost he needs to finally make a much-needed fire.
- It’s been two weeks since Ed Stafford arrived on the uninhabited Fijian island of Olorua, with absolutely nothing except cameras to record his experience. With the rainy season approaching, he desperately needs to move out of his exposed caveman home and build a shelter inland. With nothing but a clamshell to fell trees, it’s physically exhausting. To make matters worse, he’s still constantly hungry and dehydrated. As Ed’s physical health deteriorates, so does his mental state, and loneliness begins to take its toll. He’s forced to dig deep to find the strength to keep going.
