Coke Studio artists to perform at the
World Sufi Spirit Festival
Kavita Seth of the ‘Iktara’ fame and Pakistani sensation Javed Bashir to enthrall one and all!
The advent of a New Year unravels a pleasant surprise for music aficionados. The much awaited World Sufi Spirit Festival(WSSF)hosted every year in the mystical State of Rajasthan has roped in two proclaimed Coke Studio artists to perform at the festival in February. Sufi singers Kavita Seth and Javed Bashir (promoted by Saregama) will bring to life Sufi traditions along with various other artists from across the world. The festival this year will kick start on Monday, 17thFebruary 2014 in Nagaur and will culminate on Sunday, 23rdFebruary at Jodhpur.
It is through art and music that one can relate to a deep feeling of ecstasy - an ecstasy floating between fulfilment and the longing of the beloved, declaim the Sufi poets. Taking this a step further, WSSF plays host to some of the leading exponents of Sufi from across the borders year after year! Patronized by internationally renowned artist Sting, the festival is hosted at the Mehrangarh and Ahichhatragarh Forts in Jodhpur and Nagaur respectively. Through dance, music and singing, treasures of the global culturesalong with their deep rooted affiliation with Sufi rituals are revealed during the festival.
