The industry’s share of total Indian exports (merchandise plus services) increased from less than 4% in FY1998 to about 25% in 2012. According to Gartner, the Top Five Indian IT Services Providers are Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro and HCL Technologies which have made news. The year was indeed a sad one for this industry, with the demise of greats such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, actor Rajesh Khanna, director Yash Chopra to name a few.  Summarizing the events of the world, we cannot forget the social issues of the country and the world. The death of a pregnant Indian lady in Ireland, the suicide of a nurse in the UK after a prank and the recent gang-rape in Delhi shook the citizens of the world. It has been a year full of social outcry due to these issues.
