The Big Green Egg is the most versatile barbecue grill I have ever owned. It can sear steaks at temperatures up to 700F, or it can slowly smoke a 10lb brisket for 17 hours at 225F. It acts as a grill, a great oven, and a smoking efficianado all in one! Another great characteristic of the Big Green Egg is that it is extremely fuel efficient. The grill easily maintains the desired temperature for many hours, or even overnight, using relatively little charcoal when compared to a regular grill. The best part concerning the Big Green Egg is that it is easy to generate delicious food!

Burgers are one of the best things to cook about the Big Green Egg... Simple, fast, not to mention delicious. There are a zillion different recipes regarding burgers, but they follow the same formula; bun, gravy, ground beef, cheese, seasonings, and bread (all good burgers get bacon). My favorite hamburger recipe follows a similar formula; jalapeno bun (from a local bakery!), seasoned ground beef, roasted corn guacamole, pepper jack cheese, and......Texas thick minimize bacon. I call it, "Eric's Famous." With this particular recipe you can bbq grill delicious hamburgers for the family and friends and get credit as a "grill master!"
Here's Steps to make it:
To make the actual guacamole and bacon:
- Fry some sausage in a pan, reserve. Leave some bacon fat in the pan.
- Saute finely sliced onion, garlic and also corn in the sausage fat.
- Mash 1 avocado in a dish.
- Combine red onion, garlic, corn along with avocado in the pan, mix evenly.
To create the burger:
- I use 85/15 meat/fat ratio, usually, for a slightly leaner burger (most restaurants use 80/20).
- Period with generic "steakhouse" preparing, cayenne, and Tabasco sauce.
- Make some large ole burger patties.
- Hearth the Big Green Egg to 500F
- 3 min, flip, 3 min, flip
- Close the draft doors, cook for another 2 min or even until desired doneness
- Melt your cheese (about 30 sec), then take the burgers off.
- Lightly toast the buttocks on the Egg for about 1 minute.
- Construct and Enjoy!
Please be mindful when grilling from such high temperatures! The Big Green Egg can reach temperatures up to 700 diplomas! Be sure to lift the actual lid slowly when grilling, as an excessive amount of air rushing for the fire will cause a sizable flare up.
