You can find more about this wood in my Tonewood Discussion Inspection was more than satisfactory. The guitar itself is wildly resonant and wholly musical. Workmanship stellar. Machines by Gotoh are an excellent choice. The elevated Finger Board, with a natural slope to the soundboard, gives incredibly free access to the higher positions. The room was filled with the sound of the guitar and her play is totally accessible, almost effortless. I found her pointed, focused, powerful and nuanced. The radiused board allows for the simplest of playing ease. I found the guitar on the heavy side as well, measuring in at almost 5 pounds, much like any typical Australian Lattice, but without the curved and arched back This is the result of a reinforcement of the back and sides, much like a double tapa by the older Contreras house, giving stability and focus to the voices, which this guitar does well. Please note this is a 640mm scale length guitar, with slightly smaller string spacing and nut width. I always provide measurements (above) where possible. Please read more about Zebulon Turrentine here ——- Wenge (pronounced WENN-gay) is a relatively unknown wood to most players, and even to most builders. Nevertheless, it’s a superb tonewood with a remarkably clear, ringing taptone that seems to sustain forever. Ervin Somogyi reportedly called wenge “the new Brazilian rosewood”, and that’s not far off. The result is a guitar with extraordinary responsiveness, volume, and color. __________________ Media MP3 Audio – 200207-2019 Zebulon Turrentine 60 Cedar Wenge 640– this is a superb classical guitar.
