The master and frontrunner to the Double Top Genre, his guitars are light, responsive and quite powerful. The surprise for me was that this is also a most sensitive instrument, capable of tremendous nuance, subtlety, vibrato and every color imaginable. The action is moderately low at 3.5mm at the low E 12th fret and 3.1mm at the treble E 12th fret. Unusual for Matthias, but possibly a feature of his earlier guitars, is that the scale length is 650mm (652mm compensated) with a nut width of about 53mm. He generally builds a bigger guitar, in the 660-664mm scale variety post 2000. Overall, I find the guitar very easy to play, very musical and quite powerful in her voice. The guitar was owned by one individual who clearly played and enjoyed this guitar. There is clear evidence of play wear all around the top. There is a golpe installed around the rosette area as well. There are a few nail marks in and around the top, a ding here and there, and a few string rash marks behind the bridge treble E string. Given 24 years of age, not surprising. I buffed and polished the back, but have left her in original condition. The back is in very good condition, showing us nothing structural, and remarkably, very little play wear. My photos will show you everything of import as I always do. Full transparency, zero games, you know the drill. This is an amazing guitar of great character, capable of playing the softest tones to fortissimo, projection and volume like few, play that is highly enviable. An amazing guitar. The fact of the matter is that Matthias now has a 10-13 year waiting list. Yikes! A close friend of mine has just placed an order with him, confirming a 13 year wait for his guitar. This does have the unfortunate effect of inflating prices for those guitars new or old, that are available. The other very important difference is that this guitar is superb, truly superb. Bear in mind that the mic has no eyes. I could perform with this guitar for the rest of my life and be most content. Notice that I publish all my prices. No “Inquire”. I have found people taking advantage of my transparency, but I don’t wish to waste anyone’s time. Please return the favor. Thanks kindly. Please write to me or call me at 631-335-5447. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich MP3 Audio – 191008-1995 Matthias Damman Cedar CSA – everything I wrote above is accurate. I just tool around, nothing really structured, just exploring and demonstrating the various ranges, depth, and quite frankly, the soul of this extraordinary guitar. https://www.savageclassical.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/191008-1995-Matthias-Damman-Cedar-CSA.mp3 My Solo Book of sheet music is available here if you’re interested. https://savageclassical.com/product/richard-f-sayage-solo-guitar-works-volume-1/ _______ Video _____ Shipping: Premium Single Arch Top or Double Arch HSC is included in your purchase price.
