CITES Not CITES protected – CITES is NOT required Comments 2019 Vicente Carrillo Estudio Spruce Mongoy This guitar arrived in early June, where I was taken by surprise at its arrival. Vicente wanted me to see it, sent it by special courier. I tuned her up and started playing, with a big smile coming over my face. Wow, this is a great guitar, made more special by her more than accessible price point of sub $2500. Sound is clear, vibrant and wholly pleasing to the ear. Play and setup are super, quite easy to rip through pieces. I’ll photograph shortly, but seriously, this is a good guitar! She came in a gig bag (no bueno! LOL). I put the guitar in a Hill HSC brown faux leather with red plush interior. Nice case, nice guitar. Mongoy seems to another name for Ovangkol wood – taken from the Wood Database – the wood has excellent properties allowing for superb musical expression in the hands of a master such as Vicente. I have zero complaints! (not easy to do). Scientific Name = Guibourtia ehie Trade Name = Ovangkol Family Name = Leguminosae Synonyms = Common Names = Amazakoue, Amazoue, Anokye, Bubinga, Ehie, Gabon ovanko, Ghana Anokye, Guibourtia, Hyedua, Hyedua-nini, Hyeduanini, Ivory Coast amazakoue, Kaluk AfuonMbagna, Mongoy, Mongoy walnut, Mozambique, Ovangkol, Ovengkol, Pallisandro, Shedua Regions of Distribution = Africa Countries of Distribution = Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria __________ Media Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks. Rich MP3 Audio – 190619-2019 Vicente Carrillo Estudio Spruce Mongoy – a fabulous guitar, made better by her most accessible price point. Just lovely.
