Women Farmers Jaya Devi and Bandana Kumari win at Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards 2013 and make Bihar proud

 

A salute to the winners of the Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards

March 21, 2013, Bihar: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector recently announced the winners of the Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards 2013 who were honoured for their remarkable achievements in the field of Agriculture.

Smt. Jaya Devi from Munger won the Regional Award - Krishi Prerna Samman (Farmer of the year, Lady) and Smt. Bandana Kumari from Bankar, won the Regional Award - Krishi Yuva Samman (Farmer of the year, Youth) at the recently concluded Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards 2013 which were held in the National Capital.

These awards have been instituted to recognize the Indian farmer’s noteworthy and purposeful contribution to the field of agriculture, the backbone of the Indian economy. Minister of State for Agriculture, Shri Tariq Anwar, was the guest of honour at the awards ceremony. The awards were judged by an eminent jury of agri experts chaired by Mr. Ashish Bahuguna, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperation, Government of India.

The Mahindra Samriddhi Krishi Shiromani Samman (Life Time Achievement Award) 2013 was conferred upon Dr. R S Paroda for his immense contribution to Indian agriculture and for enabling rural India to RISE.

This initiative is an extension of the company’s Mahindra Samriddhi initiative which aims to enhance agricultural productivity through innovative farming technologies, thereby leading to an increase in rural prosperity. Several Mahindra dealerships have been transformed into Samriddhi Centres offering the farmer easy access to technological know-how, hybrid seeds, soil and irrigation water testing facilities, demo farms, finance and insurance internet updates, apart from sales and service of tractors and advanced implements.

Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards 2013 Details:

Number of nominations received from farmers across the country:28,242 - 43% growth over last year.

  • Cash Prizes:

a)    National Level Cash Prizes (for individuals and institutes): Rs. 2,11,000

b)    Regional Level Cash Prize (for individuals): Rs. 51,000

c)    Runner up Cash Prize (for institutes): Rs. 1,01,000

d)    Lifetime Achievement Award: Rs. 5,00,000
