With ‘Building Global Competitiveness’ as central theme, CII Agro Tech 2014 to be held from 22 — 25 November 2014 at Chandigarh

~ India’s Premier Biennial Agro Technology & Business Fair this year will have 37 international exhibitors & 117 domestic exhibitors, plus participation of major industrial players

Bhopal, (Madhya Pradesh): An important agricultural state in the country, Madhya Pradesh is the largest producer of Rice, Wheat, Gram, Soybean and Oilseeds. The state contributes 20% to the total production of pulses in the country. With 147.90 lakh hectares net sown area that is 49 per cent of total state land area, Agriculture is the main foundation of the state, contributing around 46% to the state's economy. In the state, 74 per cent of the people live in rural area, while the total irrigated area of the State is 43 percent, which is primarily a rain fed area. Stating that, Madhya Pradesh has the potential to achieve great heights in the agri sector but its potential remains untapped to a large extent. Some of the challenges that the agri sector in the state faces include large infertile area, soil erosion, inadequate moisture conditions, and erratic rainfall conditions and outdated farming methods.It is thus to open new vistas for farmers from Central Region including Madhya Pradesh and help redevelop agriculture in the state that the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has invited the  farmers from the region to the 11th CII Agro Tech 2014 from 22-25 November, 2014 at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Focusing on developing mechanisms which help the farmers restructure their agricultural occupation, this 11th edition will have conferences, round-table interactions and industry outlooks that will talk about the industry best practices, technologies, latest innovations and a strive towards policy changes which will help bring greater latency to the domestic agro sector and help farmers from across the country embark upon newer opportunities in agriculture.

 

The theme for this year’s fair will be ‘Building Global Competitiveness’, focusing on Sustainable agriculture; technologies; enhancing productivity and profitability for various stakeholders in agriculture chain; innovations for growth and sharing of best practices for agri-excellence. Via stewardship initiatives on the above mentioned themes, the CII Agro Tech 2014 will enable farmers from Madhya Pradesh along with their counterparts from across the country to incorporate better farming knowledge into their everyday techniques.  In this fair, a lot of farmers are expected to join from Madhya Pradesh to learn from the showcase of best practices.

 

The country’s premier Biennial Agro Technology & Business Fair will see a large domestic and international participation including 37 international exhibitors and 117 domestic exhibitors. The CII Agro Tech 2014 will have Punjab & Haryana as the host states, while Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India along with Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India will be the partner ministries. Other partners include Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes; CLFMA of India; Crop Care Federation of India; Fertiliser Association of India; Micronutrients Manufacturers Association; National Seed Association of India; Pesticides Formulators Association of India and Progressive Dairy Farmers Association.

 

The Fair comprises nine concurrent International shows viz — Good Earth (Expo on Agri Inputs & Farming Technologies), Food Expo (Expo on Processed & Packaged Foods), Food Tech (Expo on Logistics & Packaging Technologies), Farm Services (Expo on Agri Commerce & Technology), Livestock (Expo on Livestock Management), International Pavilion and Implementex (Expo on Agri & Farm Implements).

 

Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman, CII Agro Tech 2014 & Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. shared that “Through CII Agro Tech 2014, we aim to showcase the latest technological innovations geared to take Indian agriculture to the next level. It will also focus on policy issues by bringing all key stakeholders - governments, institutes, scientists, associations, farmers and the industry onto a single platform thereby helping in attracting higher investments in agriculture and related sectors”.

 

“CII Agro Tech will help in attaining the objective of ‘more crop per drop’ laid out by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi byshowcasing the best practices and most advanced procedures & technologies being applied in pockets to a vast number of farmers from all across India present at single platform”, highlighted Dr Goenka.

 

“CII Agro Tech 2014 will also feature special ‘Kisan Goshthees’, a value added platform for farmers including sessions with scientists and experts to enlighten them with some of the best practices in areas like protected agriculture & precision farming, climate change, water & soil management, use of solar energy for agriculture, organic farming and reducing pesticide usage, Agro processing & marketing, optimum use of Agri inputs, farm mechanization etc which would help remove the existing bottlenecks like lack of knowledge on latest irrigation methods, on proper use of fertilizers, soil testing and about the latest farm mechanization techniques”, further informed Dr Goenka.

The CII Agro Tech 2014 will also feature International Conferences on Horticulture Value Chain, Animal Husbandry, Innovations in Agriculture, World View of India as a Food Basket and Food Processing, Storage & Distribution; and Country specific Session on ‘Business Opportunities in Africa’. 

 

The fair will have a Roundtable on ‘India-Pakistan Agriculture Trade’, along with another CEOs Roundtable with Union Agriculture Minister, Union Food Processing Minister & Secretary — Agriculture and Food Processing Ministries, Government of India.

CII Agro Tech 2014 will have a focus on Farmers under the theme of ‘Jai Kisan’. Sharing best practices, the fair will have an intensive outreach to farmers via Kisan Mandis, vernacular adv, state governments and corporate. Focusing on educating farmers on Sustainable Agriculture practices, the fair will have sessions on Natural Resource Management — Soil & Water Conservation, Organic Farming, Livestock Management, Dairy farming, Agri machinery & inputs, Post Harvest Management, etc. These sessions will be addressed by experts from industry and academia and will feature award-wining progressive farmers sharing their success stories. The fair will be a true symbol of industry — farmer — institute partnership, and will be beneficial to nearly 30,000 farmers expected to participate in the fair.

 

Some of the other interesting features of CII Agro Tech 2014 include Interesting live display of Automatic Feed System for Poultry and Dairy Farm Development Mobile Vans at Livestock Expo, Live display of Fish Farming, Food Tech with interesting display of ‘Vito’ Oil Filtration System, Interesting displays on Integrated Agri Business Model for Waste Land Development and benefits derived from Paddy Straw Composting, Live display of Soilless Farming (Hydroponics) and functional Solar Pump, Animal Identification system (RFIDs), cooling solutions for Livestock, Veterinary homoeopath products, Implementex displaying digital panel for Tractors and Solar Energy Systems, Proposal to launch newer & efficient model of tractors and display of foldable water tank, Rice Transplanters, Vertical Garden at Good Earth Show.  

 

The CII Agro Tech 2014 will be formally inaugurated on November 22, 2014 in the presence of Mr Radha Mohan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Government of India; Ms Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Hon’ble Minister of Food Processing, Government of India; Mr Parkash Singh Badal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab; Mr Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana;  Mr Brad Wall, Hon’ble Premier of Saskatchewan (Canada); Mr Ashish Bahuguna, Secretary - Agriculture, Government of India; and Mr Siraj Hussain, Secretary - Food Processing Industries, Government of India.
