25, September 2014: Those booked in to stay at any of the Tuscan villas in and around the town of Panzano in Chianti experienced a big weekend of fun and merry-making as the town’s annual wine festival, Vino al Vino, kicked off over the weekend. For four exciting days, Panzano’s famous vintners and discriminating wine connoisseurs from around the world met and talked shop — and, most importantly, celebrated the rich and unique bounties of the region. To be staged at the village square, the wine festival started on Sept. 18 and continued from 12 pm to 7:30 pm on Sept. 19, from 11 am to 8 pm on Sept. 20, and finally, from 11 am to 7:30 pm on Sunday. Of course, aside from wines, the festival also featured live jazz music from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The Vino al Vino wine festival is the result of a ‘unity of mind and hearts’ of the town’s vintners or winemakers. Anyone who has stayed at any of the stunning Tuscan villas around town and sampled at least a glass of a local wine can attest to Panzano’s vintners’ admirable and even obsessive dedication to quality. The wine festival, therefore, is not just a celebration, but also their way to further promote organic and sustainable vineyard techniques, which are among the reasons why the wines from Panzano are known to be among the very best in Chianti.
Unlike other winemaking towns in the region, however, Panzano in Chianti – specifically its highly creative and industrious wine makers – celebrates their main products not just at this festival, but also throughout the entire year.
