The dabbawalas originated when India was under British rule. Many Indian people who worked in British companies disliked the British food served by the companies, and hence a service was set up to bring lunch to them in their workplace straight from their home. Now-a-days the services includes cooking as well as delivery. This work has become a highly specialized trade that is over a century old and has become an integral part of the city’s culture.

It has been frequently observed, much to the dismay of the commuters, that Taxi and auto drivers mostly refuse to ply long distances towards the end of their shifts before they have to return the vehicles. On other hand Drivers of taxi and auto rickshaws, however, have their own story. Most of them insisted that they are justified in refusing fares if the destination doesn’t suit their convenience.

Vishakha will end her political satire journey in the iconic Mumbai Mantralaya being which would be her last destination. Tune into IBN-Lokmat with Vishakha Subedhar highlighting various issues of commuters in the Mumbai city on Saturday 12th Oct 2014 at 6.30pm.
