UBM‘s Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair Receives Tremendous Support

 

Delhi, September 8, 2012: The launch edition of the Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair by UBM India kicked off on Saturday, 8th September, 2012 at Pragati Maidan with heads of major associations from across india, top retailers and many more prominent figures from the industry in attendance.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Siddharth Singh, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India along with Mr. Sanjeev Khaira, MD of UBM India. To show their support, Satishchand Ji Singhvi, President, Delhi Jewellers Association, Vijay Khanna, President, Karol Bagh Jewellers Association, Ramesh Narang, of Hazoorilal Jewellers were present at the Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair.

Chief Guest, Shri Siddharth Singh, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry said, “The culture in north India has a rich heritage and a cosmopolitan outlook. UBM‘s jewellery and gem fair provides an ideal platform for the industry to learn and discuss innovative designs, manufacturing techniques and international trends thus encouraging commerce. Delhi is the hub of North India and thereby a medium conducive to generating business opportunities for the jewellery trade.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sanjeev Khaira, MD for UBM India, said, “UBM India is proud to launch the Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair. Our aim through this launch initiative in Delhi is to cater to the entire north region and provide the gems and jewellery industry value in terms of exposure, knowledge and partnerships like we successfully achieved in the past in other regions. UBM‘s jewellery fairs in Hyderabad and Chennai have emerged as one of the largest trade fairs of its kind in South India and we hope to provide a similar experience for the trade in this region. Regarding the industry in North India, Mr. Ramesh Narang of Hazoorilal Jewellers stated, “The North Indian market is set to grow further and UBM‘s launch of its Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair provides a well-defined forum to leverage the opportunities in this area. The international trade fair will see participation from over 70 exhibitors including leading industry names such as Gitanjali Brands (Luxury Division) showcasing Italian jewellery, Jai Gulab Dev displaying traditional gold and temple jewellery, Surya Golds featuring exquisite cubic zirconia jewellery set in gold, Yash Lifestyle highlighting their platinum range and Shri Ramkrishna Exports with their sparkling diamonds on display.

Apart from the exhibition, the event will see a host of knowledge sharing sessions conducted in association with the best in the business. The highlight is a panel discussion on ´Peculiarities of the North India..how the retailer thinks and buys?‘ with participation from top names from the industry. Knowledge partner GIA is presenting a series of workshops and seminars on gemstones, pearls and diamonds as well as sales techniques.                   

The two-day fair is expected to see 2500+ visitors from across the Northern region, Pan India and international visitors.
