Two different books with a common author launched
Indore, 21st September 2014: For the first time a leading publishing house has launched two different books on altogether different topics but written by a common author. Glittering Ink, a publishing house based out of New Delhi today unveiled two books at Indore. While one of them is ‘Chini Kum’ a Hindi hand book on self management of diabetes, the other one ‘THE DI(E)LEMMA’ is an English novel on fiction. Both the books have been written by Dr Vinod Gujral, a leading diabetic & cardio expert of Delhi.
By 2030, India would be home to 79.4 million people suffering from diabetes. Informs Dr Gujral, “While this statistic is concerning for the simple reason that more people will be living with diabetes, it also has huge implications for the levels of care, services and support that will need to be provided in order for those people to live with and manage their diabetes. People with diabetes only have contact with a healthcare professional for a few hours per year. The rest of the time they care for and manage their diabetes themselves. It is estimated that 95 per cent of diabetes management is self-management. Through good self-management, people with diabetes can improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of developing complications.” Chini Kum, is the 6th book on self care on management of diabetes which has been written by Dr Gujral. Some former books are: Jeevan Madhumeh Ke Sang, Hope for Diabetics in 21st Century and Are You Good At Heart .
How difficult was it to write a book on fiction for the first time for a author with expertise in writing healthcare books both for the layman and the medical community, Dr Gujral said, "I had always wanted to write stories and Fiction about intricate human relations during crisis, the plot crystallised and I got going, enjoyed writing it over about nine months"
‘THE DI(E)LEMMA’ is based on corporate espionage targeting a top successful executive and his wife leading to a crisis that persisted even after the culprits got booked, you would want to read the next page till the suspense is over.. "
Chini Kum attempts to address managing diabetes and complications from an Indian Asian perspective. Indians are genetically more conducive to develop diabetes and its complications, and there are various factors which contribute to the patient’s misery like lack of awareness, late diagnosis, mis management and lack of concrete guidance to manage Indian diabetics. The chapters are totally reader friendly, actual problem oriented and loads of real practice case stories from Dr Gujral's three decades of clinical practice.
