TV enables you to be in every home, which is why I chose it: PadminiKolhapure

Veteran and versatile film actress PadminiKolhapure is the latest addition to Sony TV’S Ekk Nayi Pehchaan. She plays the role of other woman in Suresh Modi’s life. Not many know that Poonam is the one who persuaded her to take up the role after she declined it the first time. We got in touch with her to know more about her role in the show and her personal life and this is what she states:

Tell us something about your character in Sony TV’s Ekk Nayi Pehchaan?
I am playing the role of PallaviAjmera, a strong independent working business woman who is a contrast to ShardaModi. She is Suresh Modi’s wife and also a mother to two teenage children. She is head strong and knows exactly what she wants.

Why did you opt for television instead of a Bollywood movie?
I’ve done films too and am also doing theatre. Working on any kind of medium is a good learning experience. TV enables you to be in every home, which is why I chose it.

It is a known fact that PoonamDhillon and you are the best of friends. Tell us about your friendship.
Poonam and I have done just one film together called Qurbani Rang Layeegi. But we became close friends during that shoot and have been friends for the past 25 years now. Our bond has only grown stronger over the years. Since we live close to each other, we keep meeting often. I have always been afraid of taking up TV shows because I’ve heard scary stories about the shoot timings and long hours of work. When this role came up, it was Poonam who persuaded me to do it and assured me that the team will adjust to my timings and not make me work at unearthly hours.

So how are you coping with the hectic schedule that comes with doing a television show?
It’s pretty relaxed because the producers of the show have made films too, and they know how film actors function. I’m not used to shooting long hours and they adjust accordingly.

You have been in the entertainment industry since your childhood days. How do you think this industry has evolved?
Yes I feel it has evolved in a very drastic ways. There is much more professionalism and discipline in actors these days. Things have also improved on the technical front. When I was doing films, my hairstylist and costume designers were the only women on the sets; now I see young girls working hands on.

What’s your secret of looking so beautiful even at this age?
I am spiritually inclined and believe that beauty comes from within. That reflects on your skin. I am blessed to have an understanding husband and son Priyank, who have never given me much stress in life. All this put together helps me remain beautiful.
