Not every traveler wants room service, posh hotel restaurant meals and the high prices that go with them. Some of today’s travelers prefer to cook their own meals and do things their own way while on the road so they can save money and maintain their usual routines.

“We cater to travelers who don’t want to be catered to,” said a spokeswoman for the TownePlace Suites hotels in Gonzales Lousiana. “Our property is designed with being able to take care of yourself in mind. And judging by our strong business, I’d say this approach is working for us and our guests.”

TownPlace Suites is different from many other hotel properties because the emphasis is on do-it-yourself travelers. That means the suites have fully furnished kitchens and there are functional office spaces that make it easy to get work done. Travelers can actually live in this hotel as long as their needs require and feel like they are at home instead of on the road.

That kind of hotel stay may not appeal to leisure travels who want some time away, but for business travelers who are often away from home, it fits the bill nicely.

In addition, the hotel has other do-it-yourself amenities, including a 24-hour market; a business center and a free breakfast with both hot and cold items for guests who may like to cook but do not want to worry with breakfast.

“Even the most hardened business traveler wants a little luxury,” the spokeswoman said.
