Sometimes, it is the small things that hit hardest, and when it comes to the game of golf, such an adage can sometimes be applied, particularly when it comes to your swings. You have already been playing golf for quite a while already, you are not yet a pro but you are bent on improving your game further and take your skills to the next level. Then you notice that you are a straight hitter but the problem is you frequently tend to put much distance on your shots. The key is to inject more speed and energy on your swing. So how do you do it? Read on to find out how.

Starting with the right form and finishing with force
Upon address, have your golf club gripped but in a light manner using your fingers while forming a "V" shape that begins from your forefinger and thumb going up to your right shoulder. You need to be able to achieve this position in order for you to unhinge and re-hinge your wrists, which are actually the focal point of this whole exercise. You see, the key is to be able to hold your golf club in a strong position as far as your shoulders are concerned then having it in a weak position when it comes to your palms. Your goal is to really have your arms "dangling" upon address and not having them tight, as this will generate more energy for your swing and upon impact and once you reach your downswing, you will be able to accelerate your arms further, resulting into more distance for the ball.

Practice to build more speed
Like in any sport, practice makes perfect, and in order for you to master this technique is to incorporate drills which you are to perform every time you play golf. Remember that the goal is to build more speed on your hand, your arm and your clubhead so try to perform this simple drill until you get the hang of it.

Take four of your tees and have them sticking to the ground right beside each other then place a ball on top of the last one. The goal of this drill is to have the tees flying into the air, which is something that is really not that easy to do. Now stand in position on the first tee as you would address a ball, but this time, have your feet fused together and your toes pointing outwards to the side. Now execute as you would your normal swing and try to send the tee flying into the air. Then move yourself forward in position for the next tee and do the same thing all over again until your reach the last one with the ball. Now for the last one, do not think that the ball is there, just focus on getting the tee in the air. The key is to have your arms dangling and holding the club with your palms lightly in order to generate the speed that you need.
