The History Of Music Video Part One Comes To Times Square October 6

New York, New York — Music video historian Stephen Pitalo will bring his acclaimed talk “The History of Music Video, Part One” to the heart of Manhattan when New York Super Week presents this multimedia show in Dave & Buster’s Empire Room in Times Square on Monday, October 6th at 8pm.

Pitalo’s interviews with over 100 music video directors and artists of the era inform this highly entertaining event, complete with classic music videos and interview excerpts as Pitalo explains how the music video began as a standard performance clip and evolved into the most influential phenomenon in music marketing history. Music videos fueled the careers of artists from Michael Jackson to David Bowie to Madonna to Prince to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers; these artists flourished during an era when pioneering and revolutionary filmmakers embraced the creative opportunities that the medium afforded them, and created the iconic music video images we still talk about today.

The event includes not only the full multimedia presentation, but a Q&A with the audience, moderated by Lori Majewski, co-author of “Mad World: An Oral History of the New Wave Artists and Songs That Defined The 80s.” The event concludes with a two-hour music video party, curated by Pitalo himself, full of big retro hits and lost gems from the 70s, 80s and 90s projected onto the big screen.
