On the 9th July 2014, The Gold Coast Suns confirmed that star player Gary Ablett Jr. will miss the remainder of the 2014 AFL season after being required to undergo surgery on his injured left shoulder after dislocating it during the game against Collingwood.

Whilst the news is a massive blow for Guy Mckenna’s side’s finals chances, it’s also sent betting for the Brownlow into a spin, with Ablett, the Metricon Stadium maestro and twice medal winner odds-on favourite for the top gong before coming unstuck against Collingwood on the weekend.

In honour of Abeltt’s superb season, punters who backed him to win this year’s Brownlow can rest easy, with Betjack pledging to refund all bets on the legend if he doesn’t end up winning on Brownlow night.

With a large number of punters outlaying significant cash on the carry over champ, the chosen one amazingly still finds himself third in the betting market behind Scott Pendlebury at $3.00 (in from $3.75) and Josh Kennedy at $6.00.

The head analyst for Betjack was quoted saying after the event “It’s a real shame for Gary, with the Brownlow all but in the bag, there really couldn’t be a worse time for injury. All the best to him with his recovery and on into the 2015 season, and all the best to the Gold Coast Suns”.

Of course, with any bet there are some conditions. These are as follows:

- Betjack bets only
- Singles only
- The refund will be executed on the night of the Brownlow if Gary doesn’t win it.
- Bets placed before 2:30pm EST 09/07/2014 are eligible for the refund
- Freebets will not be refunded
