Teach for America program is a comprehensive educational support which provides knowledge to disadvantaged students in some parts of America where educational literacy is insignificant numbers. 

Kenneth Maldonado has worked in California before quitting his job in order to join Teach for America program. He was one of the successful recruits of this program who is willing to be relocated just to teach underprivileged American students. The program includes five (5) comprehensive training courses to help new recruits to be familiar on their job. This fresh graduate recruits are also referred as “corps members”. Having a chance to join this program will give more opportunity for someone to get better employment position in the future. 

Teach for America program or simply known as TFA is recognized as “resume promoter”. Graduates of this program have already made their great leap in their career by getting more advantage than their competitors to be hired in a particular job. The challenge given to recruits of TFA is considered as a good working experience which is a plus points for employers who wanted to hire a disciplined and hard-working employees. 

TFA Mission and Supporters 

There are a lot of people who support this program. Kenneth Maldonado who graduated from University of California Santa Cruz for theater major and minor in education believes in the advocacy of this program and highly supports its mission. From working in a non-profit organization, he choose to be part of the TFA program. He committed himself to the two year contract provided by TFA. He was even serious on teaching this disadvantage group of students. “I wasn’t stressed out, I wasn’t worried,” this was his line when he decided to quit on her job and join the program. He had put his full trust in the program that it is not only for himself but most importantly to the beneficiaries of the program. 

The TFA faces a lot of controversies including the financial allocation provided to this program. As a matter of fact, many people have showed their disappointments and disagreement to this program. Many people have not agreed on the systems of this program. They claim that TFA is just an ambitious notion. The recruits qualified not because on the relatedness of their educational attainment but more on their willingness to teach other people. Recruits were not all graduates of teaching course. This is the main point for the arising criticism of the program. TFA was still a hot topic right now but we cannot refute the fact that many students were reached by this program.
