Taiwan Excellence at EMMA EXPO to Highlight Growth in the Machinery Industry

Organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade/ Ministry of Economic Affairs (BOFT/MOEA), and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) - EMMA Expo India 2013, is entering into its 7th successful year. EMMA stands for “Electronic Products, Machinery Products, Molds, Auto Parts”, an event focusing on inspiring trade and friendship between Taiwan and India. It will be held in Chennai, from the 5th to 7th of September

This year, among the leading 59 Taiwanese brands, 19 brands from the machinery industry will be showcased at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion at the EMMA Expo. As known by consumers globally, Taiwan is home to many cutting-edge products coming from Taiwanese companies that have amazing technological competence in machinery and machine tool manufacturing. Nearly 80% of Taiwan’s machinery products are generated for export. This not only enables Taiwan to hone its extraordinary competitiveness in international markets but also helps it build close relationships with its customers.

Taiwanese machinery manufacturers understand customers’ needs, helping them foster high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, allowing Taiwanese manufactures to maintain their momentum for innovation. Taiwan machine tools claim the world’s third-highest export value, trailing only after Germany and Japan, totaling US$4.2 billion in 2012, a 5.9% gain over 2011.

The reasonable cost and excellent quality of high-quality Taiwanese products have already helped form solid industrial foundations for many developing countries. Taiwan’s machinery output is ranked 10th in the world.  In the next five years, Taiwan’s exports are anticipated to enjoy steady growth due to its strong product base and its ever-improving service offerings.

95% of Taiwan’s machinery is produced by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), mostly concentrated in central Taiwan. One of the core strengths of Taiwan’s machinery industry is its ability to form clusters from these SMEs, where the SMEs’ close geographic location and relationship to each other, offer a mutually supporting supply chain. These clusters are flexible and responsive to ever changing market trends, offering high-quality products at reasonable prices; they have established a unique niche for themselves.

There are many excellent machinery products being embraced by customers worldwide. For instance, HIWIN Crossed Roller Bearing is widely used in five axis machine centers, robots, and industrial automation machines, which require high loading capacity, rigidity and accuracy. Autowell’s unique out-jaw increases the clamping capacity. It has following features: Lockwell Anti-Lift Mechanism, Mechanical Booster and Force Adjustable Function.

In addition, CNC grinding machine from Mars Precision Machinery; high precision inverter oil cooler  from Wexten Precise Cooling Machinery, and PCB separator from Aurotek Corporation, are all respected products in Taiwan’s machinery industry.

“Welcome to the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion! We would like to introduce the ‘Reliability’, ‘Innovation’ and ‘Value’ of Taiwanese products to India. The bilateral trade of India and Taiwan is growing at a healthy rate and is expected to touch USD 10 billion in the next two years. The rise in the disposable income of Indian consumers has propelled its economic growth story to new heights. Indian economic growth is positive, with its consumer spending emerging in full strength, making it the most sought

after domestic market by companies across the world. We are hopeful that initiatives such as EMMA Expo will boost bilateral trade relations between two countries. ” Said Mr. San Gee, Vice Chairman, Taipei World Trade Center.

Continuing her partnership with Taiwan Excellence, Malaika Arora Khan, a well-known Bollywood actress, model and television personality will inaugurate the pavilion. Also present for the inauguration ceremony will be Indian & Taiwanese VIPS’, including Mr. San Gee, Vice Chairman, Taipei World Trade Center Co., Ltd; Mr. Woody Tyzz-Jiun Duh, Vice Minister, Economic Affairs, Taiwan; Mr. P Murali, Former Secretary to President of India; Mr. Chung- Kwang Tien, Representative, Taipei Economic and Cultural Center, etc. Malaika Arora Khan said, “I am so excited to know that Machinery products are included in this year's event as everyone knows how innovative Taiwan Machinery industry is. I am ready to explore more at Emma Expo!”

The following Taiwanese machinery brands will be showcasing their products at the EMMA Expo this year — Aurotek, Autowell, CGM, Chin Fong, CHMER, Chum Power, FCS, Feeler, HIWIN, Kent, Mars, ProArc, RICH SOU, Seyi, SYNTEC, Tongtai, WELE and Wexton.

The EMMA Expo will introduce quality, fair-priced Taiwanese products to India buyers and consumers. However, as tempting as the Indian market is, for many investors this market has very high entry level barriers. EMMA Expo serves as a platform that enables Taiwanese SMEs not only to directly connect with India but also allows them to understand the Indian culture and market, before making any important decisions.
