Swiss company to set up Skill Development Centre with in Mahindra World City, Jaipur

Jaipur, April 11, 2013: Mahindra World City (MWC), Jaipur, has signed an agreement with ‘Switzerland Skill Development Centre’ to set up their facility for poly-mechanics over 3.7 acres of land. This center will provide training to unskilled workers who are already employed in the manufacturing industry, combining trade-related theoretical education with practical skills and knowledge. This center will be the first of its kind in Rajasthan.

The driving force behind this ambitious project is Dr. Rajendra and Ursula Joshi Foundation, a not for profit trust, who have taken up the cause of meeting the gap between workers and employability by providing world class vocational training.  Dr. Joshi and his family have been residing in Switzerland for the last sixty years and he has worked as a professor (Dozent) at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.

Commenting on the association Dr. Rajendra Joshi, Director — Switzerland Skill Development Centre said, “Mahindra World City, Jaipur is the ideal choice for us as we were scouting for a well developed industrial zone with water supply, sanitation and stable power within a vicinity of 15 kms around Jaipur”.

The proposed campus at MWC, Jaipur shall accommodate the necessary buildings which will include not only workshops to impart training, but also an auditorium, lecture rooms, utility stores, teacher’s offices, administration offices, a canteen, hostel, library etc., providing an optimum environment for learning and development.

Mahindra World City, Jaipur is one of 16 projects worldwide to be part of the Clinton Climate Initiative’s (CCI) effort to create Climate Positive cities. Total investments into Mahindra World City, to date, have crossed Rs. 1000 crores.
