01, October 2014: After hosting the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in August 2014, Méribel is now looking forward to hosting its next major event. Ski fans are already booking catered chalets in the resort in order to secure a front row seat.
Méribel hosted a very successful World Cup, attracting mountain bike enthusiasts from far and wide. The event attracts the world’s most skilled professionals in the sport, reinforcing the fact that the resort is about more than just skiing and winter sports. It has now hosted the French Mountain Bike Cup for five years, and the event included Downhill and Cross-Country racing, as well as the Cross Country Eliminator. It attracted thousands of spectators over four days of action, with 1,300 people from 35 countries competing.
Now, Meribel is gearing up for the Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals to be held from March 18 to 22 in 2015. The five days of action will be the perfect time for ski fans to book a holiday in one of the catered chalets in order to enjoy seeing the event live.
The finals will include more than 10 international races, with the most high profile champions set to compete in the huge event. Millions of viewers are expected to tune in to the live broadcasts as 25 of best the athletes compete in each discipline. Over 70,000 spectators are expected to attend, so fans are advised to book their catered chalets now to make sure they are not disappointed.
Méribel is an excellent choice for the event, with great access and the Three Valleys ski area renowned for its fantastic snow. Visitors planning to stay in the resort for the Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals can travel to Moutiers Station by train, from where they can then travel onto the resort with ease. Alternatively, they can fly to Geneva Airport, from where transfers to the resort are easy to arrange.
