Shaabas Sachin

Pride of India all set to say good bye to international cricket this month

Some people are born to set records and Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is among them. Born in Mumbai on 24 April 1973, Sachin is  widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of his generation He took up cricket at age of eleven, made his test debut against Pakistan at just sixteen years old, and went on to represent Mumbai domestically and India internationally for more than twenty years. He retired from the Indian Premier League in May 2013 and has announced that he will retire from the sport in November 2013 after playing his two-hundredth test match, against the West Indies in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. He is the first player to score one hundred international centuries, the first player to score a double century in a One Day International, and thus far the only to complete 34,000 runs in international cricket.

Honours and records:

Perhaps Sachin himself will not be aware of all rewards and records he received and set during a period of last 29 years as a cricketer. The following are few mile stones:

In 2002, Wisden Cricketers' Almanack ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Don Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards.

He was also the recipient of "Player of the Tournament" award of the 2003 Cricket World Cup held in South Africa. In October 2013, he became the only Indian cricketer to be named in an all-time Test World XI to mark the 150th anniversary of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.

Tendulkar won the 2010 Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for cricketer of the year at the ICC awards

He was recommended for the receipt of the Bharat Ratna award, in fact it has been speculated that the criteria for the award of the Bharat Ratna were changed to allow him receive the award He is also a member of Rajya Sabha of Parliament of India.

As of October 2013, Tendulkar has played 662 matches in international cricket. On 5 October 2013, Sachin Tendulkar became the 16th player and first Indian to aggregate 50,000 runs in all recognised cricket (First-class cricket, List A cricket and Twenty20combined).

Tendulkar has been honored with the Padma Vibhushan award, India's second highest civilian award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honor. He was also the first sports person and the first one without aviation background to be awarded the honorary rank of Group Captain by the Indian Air Force.

A person with such glorious achievements can feel proud of himself, but Sachin rarely convinced any one about his talent and glory. He even at 40+ looks like a teenager. He is soft spoken and believes to be away from gossips. He has great affection for his parents. His father was admirer of Sachin Dev Burman, the famous music director, and to keep his remembrance alive, he had named his son as Sachin.

Sachin is finally going to retire from international cricket this month. He has dedicated his 200th test match to his mother who will see him playing cricket in Wankhede stadium Mumbai from 14th to 18th November 2013. Not only India but entire world is curious to witness the moments when Sachin will face, first and last ball of his matchless cricket career. Good luck Sachin.

Known by nick names viz. Master Blaster, Tendlya, and  Little master,  Sachin after retirement from international cricket will have many options of living,  but as he is made for cricket, we are sure he will like to be remembered as provider of more “Sachins” to cricket world.

We wish him good luck for semifinal and final of his cricket career to be played in November 2013 at Kolkata and Mumbai respectively.
