21, October 2014: Travellers with a passion for independent art-house and blockbuster movies will undoubtedly be excited at the prospect of this year’s international Rome Film Festival, set to open in the city in October. This major cinematic celebration will take place at a variety of stylish venues in the heart of the historic city.

Due to large numbers expected to turn out for the event, those bringing children with them to the Eternal City in order to enjoy the festival should take the opportunity to book advanced tickets after arranging their accommodation at a central family hotel. Rome will be packed to the brim for this popular event – with celebrities, film stars and directors set to make an appearance on the red carpet.

This will be the ninth year that the Rome Film Festival has taken place. Previous winners have included Alberto Fasulo, who claimed the best film prize with TIR last year, while Matthew McConaughey and Scarlett Johansson won major honours for their respective roles in the Dallas Buyers Club and Her. This year, however, organisers say there will be a greater focus on emerging talent during this ninth edition of the festival. Visitors will have the chance to watch a collection of weird and wonderful screenings at traditional cinemas all over the city centre — and many of these are sure to appeal to the younger audience.

Artistic Director Marco Muller is soon to announce the full list of screenings in anticipation of the grand opening on October 16th. However, he has already generated substantial interest by confirming an exciting array of international movies. There is a great deal of anticipation regarding Mike Binder’s Black and White, for instance. This racially charged movie features stellar performances by Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer. Film buffs will also have the opportunity to see Richard Gere starring in Time Out of Mind.

Traditionally, many acclaimed actors and actresses make time for autographs and speeches during Rome’s premier festival. For young visitors staying in a family hotel, Rome will be made all the more memorable by the opportunity to rub shoulders with a host of celebrities.

Visitors will also be able to purchase a variety of memorabilia from the Via Veneto film market and perhaps seek out some famous movie landmarks, such as the Via Margutta and the Piazza Spagna — which may be fairly close to their family hotel. Rome’s international film festival is always a favourite with both locals and visitors to the city and this year should prove no different.
