Orlando, FL — September 30, 2015 — Turmeric has long been believed to offer extra special therapeutic benefits. It has become increasingly popular since there is already a wide availability of turmeric supplements. One of the benefits associated with the use of the spice is favorable to brain health.

Research finds turmeric a working memory booster among pre-diabetic individuals. The healing effects of this spice are believed to come from its polyphenol called curcumin. Curcumin contains antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, among other benefits.

“Curcumin supplements are available at local health stores or online for individuals who want to take advantage of its therapeutic benefits,” said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.

The Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a recent study called “Turmeric improves post-prandial working memory in pre-diabetes independent of insulin.” It was found that the spice could possibly help prevent cognitive impairment associated with dementia and pre-diabetes.

Curcumin has been believed to demonstrate better healing effects than many pharmaceutical drugs. None of the medications available today have been found to properly address the root cause of the medical condition.
The study involved 48 individuals who are 60 years old and who were newly diagnosed with pre-diabetes, which at that time had not yet been treated. They were divided into the placebo, turmeric, cinnamon, and cinnamon plus turmeric groups.

The researchers found that the subjects who belonged to the turmeric group experienced an improvement in their working memory, which was not the case for the cinnamon group. According to Diabetes Care, the findings of the study adds to the increasing number of research that showed both turmeric and curcumin are likely an excellent preventive remedy for pre-diabetic individuals.

While further studies are underway, more and more people are relying on the natural alternative. Curcumin supplements are widely popular nowadays due to the healing effects reported by consumers. Arthritis sufferers, for instance, believe that curcumin is a safer and more effective alternative to pain relief drugs when managing pain and reducing inflammation.

The therapeutic properties of curcumin are believed to be effective for fighting a myriad of medical conditions. While curcumin is believed to be highly therapeutic, it is also known to have a low bioavailability. This means that its absorption inside the human body is limited.

The good news is that there are curcumin supplements that come with BioPerine, which is a bio-availability enhancing ingredient. It is a black pepper extract believed to help increase curcumin absorption inside the body (www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
