The city holds many historic stories in Indian History since time inception. The city is renowned as a major centre for production of cricket bats and balls which is used by many national and international players in almost all major cricket teams in the world. There are many localities spread across the city where one can choose various varieties of cricket bats with each of different weights.

Cricket bats are different in terms of its weight, length and width and many players prefer to choose one, which is convenient for them. For many families bat-making has become a family business. Only in Meerut alone people are involved in cutting, gluing and bending of hundreds of bats every single day to exact specifications of players need. This can be seen in the example of our national cricket players, where Rahul Dravid prefers a light weight bat compared to M.S Dhoni who is known to choose heavier bats.

Incidentally, for decades Meerut’s bat-making techniques has been appreciated world over. Bats made in this region are exported to many countries as well.
