A spiritual event which takes place every 12 years the “Kumbh Mela” is also believed to be the biggest gathering of humanity on earth. This year the Kumbh Mela is at Allahabad also known as Prayag, Uttar Pradesh. At the confluence of two Ganges and Yamuna with around 100 million pilgrimages, devotees, holy men and tourists are expected to be a part of this incredible event. The Prayag (Allahabad) Kumbh Mela is one the largest and holiest of all the four Mela’s and is believed to be the most auspicious one as well. The Kumbh Mela is celebrated in four places across India which is Allahabad, Ujjain, Nasik & Haridwar since the time inception. It is the power of faith that brings millions of people together to this holy place and allow them to freed from the vicious cycle of life and death and move towards heaven. According to Indian mythological belief, it is said that Lord Vishnu fought with demons for a golden pot containing Amrita and during the immortality four drops fell on earth, in the cities of Allahabad, Nasik, Ujjain & Haridwar and since then Kumbh Mela has been celebrated. At Prayag bathing for purification from sin in Ganaga is considered to be auspicious.
