Pune, 29th June 2013: One has often seen many cricket players becoming cricket commentators after their retirement, but one has seldom seen a Chemical Engineer and IIM-Ahmedabad graduate turned adman becoming an expert cricket analyst. Harsha Bhogle, the renowned cricket commentator has indeed come a long way from his days as a commentator on the All India Radio when he was just 19. This week on ‘Best of Great Bhet’ meet the well-known commentator, Harsha Bhogle, on Saturday, 29th June at 9:30 p.m only on IBN-Lokmat.

Born on 19th July, 1961 in Hyderabad, Harsha Bhogle studied at Hyderabad Public School and pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University. He then went on to complete his post graduation from IIM Ahmedabad and then joined an ad agency where he worked for two years. His professional career although began at the age of 19 when he was a commentator with AIR, Hyderabad. He was the first Indian commentator to be invited by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation during India’s tour of Australia just before the World Cup. Since then, he has worked with ABC Radio Grandstand, BBC, ESPN Star Sports and CNN-IBN amongst others.

Harsha Bhogle has also authored a number of books and written many columns for multiple publications. He has written the biography of Mohammad Azharuddin, co-authored a book with his wife called ‘The Winning Way’ and columns for The Indian Express and Chennai based publication ‘The Sportstar’, amongst others. He has also worked with Discovery channel and TLC in the program ‘Travel India with Harsha Bhogle’ and has hosted television programs such as ‘Harsha Online’, ‘Harsha Unplugged’ and ‘School Quiz Olympiad’ for ESPN and Star Sports. He is now a freelance TV presenter and does not work with any particular channel. In 2008, Harsha Bhogle was voted as ‘Favourite TV cricket commentator’ by Cricinfo users based on a worldwide poll.
