Poster making competition on ‘Nuclear Energy - Renewable Source of Energy

Poster making competition for children was organized in Multan DAV Senior Secondary School, Delhi, here as part of a nation-wide campaign to generate awareness about importance of energy and to dispel the misconceptions related to nuclear energy.

The topic of the competition was “Nuclear Energy - Renewable Source of Energy” and it was organized on behalf of Nuclear Power Corporation of India, a Government of India undertaking.

In all, around 170 students participated in the competition. The students’ work was judged by eminent personalities.

The names of the winning students are:

Winner I-  Monu Kumar Yadav - 7th B

Winner II- Arvind Pal- 8th B

 

The school principal Mr. N K Singh said on the occasion that children’s expressions are an indication of their creativity. The children had portrayed the importance of energy in a very creative manner and had also showed how the production of electricity from nuclear energy did not cause much harm to the environment. He also gave away prizes to the winning children. The judges also appreciated the work of the participating children and said this would increase awareness about science and energy.

On this occasion comics based on Budhiya, a fictional character who motivates villagers to support the setting up of a nuclear power plant, were distributed among the students. The character has been created by Mr Amritesh Srivastava, Media Manager, NPCIL, and the initiative has won several awards for its simplicity and effectiveness. A special three-part animated film on the same character was also screened.

Many such programmes are being organized in many states in India with an objective of creating awareness about clean energy and also removing misinformation about nuclear energy among the people.
